ACC Approves Two-Year Central Deputation Extension for Dr. Kajal, IAS, in DPIIT

In a significant administrative move, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has formally sanctioned a two-year extension for Dr. Kajal, IAS (UP:2008), to continue her tenure on central deputation. Dr. Kajal currently serves as a Director within the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Extension Details and Tenure

The ACC’s approval follows a strategic proposal submitted by the DPIIT to retain Dr. Kajal’s expertise under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS). According to the official notification:

New Extension Period: Two years beyond the current expiry of her tenure.

Revised Timeline: Her term is now extended from April 12, 2026, up to April 12, 2028.

Conditions: The extension remains valid until the specified date or until further orders from the government, whichever occurs earlier.

Background of Service

Dr. Kajal is a 2008-batch officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre. Her stint with the Union Government began on April 13, 2021, when she first joined the central administration. Over the past five years, she has played a vital role in the DPIIT, which is currently overseen by Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, and headquartered at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi.

Strategic Importance

The DPIIT is the nodal agency for formulating and implementing policies related to industrial growth, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and internal trade. By extending Dr. Kajal’s term, the ACC ensures continuity in leadership for ongoing initiatives such as Startup India, ease-of-doing-business reforms, and various industrial incentive schemes.
