IAS Officer Caught Red Handed: ₹47 Lakh Cash Recovered in Bribery case in Odisha

An IAS officer serving as the Sub-Collector of Dharamgarh in Odisha’s Kalahandi district was caught red-handed on Sunday by the Vigilance Department while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh from a local businessman.

According to an official statement, the officer—reportedly in his mid-30s—had demanded a total bribe of ₹20 lakh and was receiving the first installment at his official residence when the vigilance team intervened. The cash was found stashed in a table drawer.

Subsequent searches at his government quarters led to the seizure of ₹47 lakh in cash. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is currently underway.
