To Hold Additional Charge Alongside Roles in Minorities Welfare Department
In a key administrative decision, the Uttarakhand government has appointed Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Parag Madhukar Dhakate (2002 batch, Uttarakhand cadre) as Special Secretary to the Chief Minister. The appointment, announced on Friday, is part of efforts to strengthen the Chief Minister’s Secretariat with seasoned and capable officers.
Continues Existing Responsibilities
Mr. Dhakate will take on this new role as an additional charge, while continuing his current duties as Special Secretary in the Minorities Welfare Department and Chairman of the Minorities Welfare & Waqf Development Board. His expanded portfolio underscores the trust placed in his administrative competence and multi-sectoral experience.
Vast Administrative and Welfare Experience
An officer with a distinguished track record, Dhakate has served in various senior capacities across forest and welfare departments in Uttarakhand. He is recognized for his effective approach to governance, particularly in balancing development priorities with social equity and environmental concerns.
His appointment to the CM’s Secretariat is expected to improve inter-departmental coordination, especially in areas involving minority welfare, inclusive development, and environmental sustainability.
Part of a Larger Restructuring Effort
The decision is part of a broader administrative restructuring aimed at enhancing governance efficiency and policy implementation in the Chief Minister’s Office. By leveraging Mr. Dhakate’s dual expertise in social welfare and forest administration, the government aims to foster cross-sectoral collaboration and more responsive public service delivery.
