IRS Officer Bora Given Key Development and Communication Responsibilities in Assam Government Reshuffle
In a recent administrative reshuffle, the Assam Government has reassigned IRS officer Kumar Padmapani Bora, a 2009 batch officer, to important roles in the state’s development and communication departments. He has been relieved of his duties in the Tourism Department.
According to an official order, Mr. Bora—who was serving as Commissioner & Secretary of the Tourism Department, Project Director of the Assam Infrastructure Financing Authority, Managing Director of Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC), and CEO of Mukhya Mantri Samagra Samridhi Yojana (MMS-CMSGUY)—will no longer hold the tourism portfolio.
New Assignments
Under the new order, Mr. Bora will now serve in the following capacities:
Managing Director, Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC)
Project Director, Assam Infrastructure Financing Authority
CEO, Mukhya Mantri Samagra Samridhi Yojana (MMS-CMSGUY)
Commissioner & Secretary, Information & Public Relations (IPR) Department and Printing & Stationery Department (as additional charges)
This reshuffle appears to be part of the Assam Government’s broader strategy to consolidate leadership in critical infrastructure and communication departments, entrusting experienced officers with cross-functional responsibilities.
Tourism Role Relinquished
With this change, Mr. Bora has been formally relieved of the position of Commissioner & Secretary, Tourism Department. His exit from the tourism sector comes as the state aims to rejuvenate its tourism strategy in the post-pandemic era through targeted investments in infrastructure and promotional campaigns.
