Palaniswamy Subramanyan Karthigeyan, a 2004-batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) for a period of three years, up to April 6, 2027, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), as per an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
Karthigeyan is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Prior to this, he served as India’s High Commissioner to Fiji from January 2021 to December 2024. Upon completing his diplomatic tenure, he resumed duties within the MEA until his current appointment.
He was succeeded in Fiji by Suneet Mehta, a 2007-batch IFS officer. Former High Commissioner to Fiji to serve a three-year term.
