With the Kerala state assembly elections approaching next year, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has raised serious concerns over delays in the implementation of his directives by IAS officers.
To tackle this issue, he has instructed Chief Secretary Ms. Sarada Muraleedharan (1990-batch IAS officer) to develop guidelines to ensure the timely execution of decisions.
In line with the CM’s directive, the Chief Secretary has directed all department secretaries to prepare a comprehensive list of pending decisions that are yet to be implemented. Furthermore, the Chief Minister has mandated that the Chief Secretary monitor the progress of decisions made by him and other ministers during secretaries’ meetings.
In response to the CM’s concerns, department secretaries have begun taking steps to expedite pending projects. Special instructions have been issued to the Revenue, Finance, and Law Departments to speed up approvals, as delays in sanctions from these critical departments have been identified as a major bottleneck in the implementation process.
