Kerala Government Reshuffles Senior IAS Officers; Creates Ex-Cadre Posts

In a significant administrative reshuffle aimed at streamlining governance, the Government of Kerala on Thursday announced a reallocation of responsibilities among senior IAS officers, including the creation of two ex-cadre positions and the assignment of additional charges to several officers across key departments.

Two New Ex-Cadre Posts Created

Resident Commissioner, Kerala House, New Delhi

An ex-cadre post equivalent to the Chief Secretary rank has been created for a period of one year.

Puneet Kumar (IAS:1993:KL), currently Additional Chief Secretary, Local Self Government Department, has been appointed to the role.

The post had been lying vacant following the central deputation of Ajit Kumar (IAS:2006:KL), who is now Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology.

Additional Commissioner, Kerala GST Department
Another ex-cadre post has been established, also for a one-year term.

Sreelakshmi R (IAS:2019:KL), previously Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary, has been appointed to this newly created role.

Additional Charges Assigned to Key IAS Officers

The reshuffle also includes the allocation of full additional responsibilities to several IAS officers to enhance inter-departmental coordination and governance:

Mohammed Hanish APM (IAS:1996:KL)

Current Role: Principal Secretary, Industries Department

Additional Charge: Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department

Biju K (IAS:2006:KL)

Current Role: Secretary, Public Works Department

Additional Role: Special Officer, Capital Region Development Project-II

Dr. K Vasuki (IAS:2008:KL)

Current Role: Secretary, Labour and Skills Department

Additional Charge: General Education Department

Anupama T V (IAS:2010:KL)

Current Role: Special Secretary, Local Self Government Department

Additional Role: Special Secretary (Co-ordination)

Mohammed Y Safirulla K (IAS:2010:KL)

New Role: Appointed as Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary

Dr. Veena N Madhavan (IAS:2010:KL)

Current Role: Special Secretary, Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department

Additional Charges:

Special Secretary, Co-operation Department

Special Secretary, Planning and Economic Affairs Department

Member Secretary, Kerala State Planning Board

This reshuffle underscores the Kerala government’s commitment to administrative efficiency and cross-functional leadership in critical departments.
