In a sweeping administrative overhaul, the Maharashtra Home Department has transferred 132 senior police officers—comprising 51 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and 81 from the State Police Service. The reshuffle affects major cities including Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, reflecting a strategic realignment of law enforcement leadership across the state.
Key IPS Movements and Appointments
Tejaswi Satpute (IPS, 2012 batch), previously SP at Pune’s Weapon Inspection Branch, has been appointed as Commander, SRPF Group 1, Pune.
Mahendra Pandit (IPS, 2013 batch), earlier DCP in Thane, will now serve in Mumbai.
Smartana Patil, DCP with Pune Police, has been posted to the Police Training Center, Khandala.
Amol Zende, formerly Pune’s Traffic DCP, will take charge as Commander, SRPF Daund.
Tushar Patil, serving as SP of Kolhapur, has been promoted and transferred as DCP, Mumbai.
Additionally, Vijay Pawar, Sunil Lokhande, Namrata Patil, and Smita Patil have also been promoted and posted as DCPs in Mumbai, reinforcing the leadership team in the city. A senior official confirmed that all five IPS officers have been assigned to Mumbai, signaling an intent to strengthen command presence.
