As military tensions escalate between India and Pakistan, the Rajasthan government has bolstered its disaster management and relief efforts by assigning additional responsibilities to Mahaveer Prasad Meena. Meena, a 2013-batch officer promoted from the state civil services, has been given the additional charge of Special Secretary in the Disaster Management and Relief Department.

He currently serves as the Managing Director of the State Bunkar Sangh—a relatively low-profile post. His new role comes as part of the government’s effort to strengthen its emergency response framework during this period of heightened alert.

The Disaster Management and Relief Department is headed by Additional Chief Secretary Anand Kumar, who also oversees the crucial Home Department.

“In the present war-like scenario, both law and order and disaster preparedness are of utmost importance. To support Anand Kumar in managing these critical responsibilities, the government has entrusted Meena with the additional charge,” said a senior IAS officer.

In a related administrative move, the state government has reversed the transfer order of Manoj Kumar Meena, who was earlier shifted from Deoli (Tonk) to the border region of Gharsana (Sri Ganganagar) as SDO. Instead, Sunil Kumar Chauhan, currently serving as Assistant Collector in Udaipurwati (Jhunjhunu), will take over the Gharsana post.
