Senior Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) officer Rajesh Gupta has been granted a two-year extension of his central deputation with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), where he is serving as Joint Secretary.
According to the latest administrative decision, Gupta will continue in the post of Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs up to April 15, 2028. His extension ensures continuity in a senior position within the ministry that handles some of the country’s most critical internal security and administrative responsibilities.
Gupta, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers, had earlier served as Director at NITI Aayog before moving to the Ministry of Home Affairs on central deputation. His experience across the railway system and the Centre’s policy-making framework brings a diverse administrative and technical background to his current assignment.
As Joint Secretary in the MHA, Gupta is part of the senior bureaucratic leadership responsible for handling matters assigned to his division and supporting the ministry’s policy, coordination and administrative functions. Joint Secretaries play an important role in translating government priorities into policies and ensuring their implementation through coordination with various departments, agencies and state governments.
