Madhya Pradesh Government Announces Key Bureaucratic Appointments and Transfers

In a notable administrative reshuffle, the Madhya Pradesh government has made several key postings and transfers in the state bureaucracy. IAS officer Sanjeev Shrivastava (2011 batch) has been appointed as the Additional Secretary in the Public Works Department (PWD), taking charge of a department crucial for state infrastructure development, including roads, bridges, and government buildings.

Shrivastava, who was previously serving as the Collector of Bhind District, has been recognized for his proactive approach in governance and effective project execution. During his tenure in Bhind, he spearheaded multiple initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing the delivery of public services, earning a reputation as a hands-on and efficient administrator.

Past Controversy Highlights Shrivastava’s Tenure

The officer had recently been in the national spotlight following a tense confrontation with BJP MLA Narendra Singh Kushwaha. The disagreement, revolving around fertilizer distribution and allegations of illegal sand trade, escalated into verbal threats and an attempted physical altercation. The incident drew significant media attention and underscored the challenges faced by bureaucrats in politically sensitive postings.

Cadre Transfer: Ankit Kumar Jain Moves to Madhya Pradesh

In another major update, IAS Ankit Kumar Jain (2023 batch) has received a cadre transfer from Tamil Nadu to Madhya Pradesh. The move has been facilitated under inter-cadre transfer rules based on marital grounds, following his marriage to Ms. Sonakshi Saxena. This transfer allows Jain to continue his administrative career closer to family while serving in the state bureaucracy.

IFoS Officer Abhishek Kumar Repatriated to Gujarat

Meanwhile, the Government of India has approved the premature repatriation of IFoS officer Abhishek Kumar (2013 batch, Gujarat cadre) from his central deputation at the Ministry of Cooperation, where he held the position of Deputy Secretary. The transfer, granted on personal grounds, was formalized through an official order from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on October 10, 2025. Kumar has been instructed to immediately relieve his duties and report back to his parent cadre in Gujarat, with a specified extended cooling-off period before future central deputations.

This series of strategic postings and transfers reflects the ongoing efforts by the Madhya Pradesh government and the central administration to optimize bureaucratic efficiency while addressing personal and professional considerations of officers.
