MP Government Approves 55% DA for IAS, IPS, IFS Officers and Deputation Staff — Still Trails Centre by 5%
Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has approved a revised dearness allowance (DA) of 55% for IAS, IPS, and IFS officers, as well as for employees on deputation in the state. The update, made official via an order from the state Finance Department dated April 17, 2025, will be effective from January 1, 2025. Previously, the DA was set at 53%.
This hike brings Madhya Pradesh’s DA in line with the rate recently approved by the Central Government. However, despite the increase, state officers will now receive 5% less DA compared to their Central Government counterparts — a gap that has grown from 3% last month, due to the Centre’s additional 2% DA hike from January 2025.
The new rate applies to all All India Services officers serving in Madhya Pradesh, and the increase will be disbursed through cash payments, as confirmed by the state’s Finance Department.
The state’s decision follows the Central Government’s directive dated April 2, 2025, which raised DA for central employees to 55% from the same effective date. While this marks progress in aligning with central pay standards, the persistent 5% difference could impact morale and raise concerns among state employees.
The revised DA will benefit officials across various departments, including department heads, divisional commissioners, and district collectors, and is part of the government’s broader strategy to counter inflation and enhance salary structures in line with national trends.
As the disparity in dearness allowance between central and state employees grows, it remains to be seen how it will influence employee sentiment and retention in Madhya Pradesh’s administrative services.
