MP Government has approved a total 55% Dearness Allowance for IAS, IPS, IFS officers and Deputation Staff. Employees still receive 5% less DA than central counterparts.

The Madhya Pradesh government has approved an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) to 55% for IAS, IPS, and IFS officers, along with employees on deputation in the state. This revised rate, which comes into effect from January 1, 2025, was officially notified by the State Finance Department on April 17, 2025. Prior to this, the DA stood at 53%.

The revision aligns with the recent Central Government’s DA adjustment for its employees. However, Madhya Pradesh officials will continue to receive 5% less than their Central counterparts — a gap that has widened from the previous 3%, following the Centre’s additional 2% hike from January 2025.

The enhanced DA will be calculated as 55% of the basic pay and will be disbursed in cash to all eligible employees, including senior administrative positions such as department heads, divisional commissioners, and district collectors.

This update is part of the state’s effort to mitigate inflationary pressures and to somewhat maintain parity with central pay structures. However, the persisting disparity in allowance rates could affect employee morale and spark calls for further alignment with central standards.

The Central Government had earlier issued a similar directive on April 2, 2025, applying the 55% DA rate to its own personnel from the same date. Despite the matching timeline, Madhya Pradesh employees remain at a comparative disadvantage, which may influence future compensation discussions within the state.
