Centre Approves New Deputations: Prashant Dubey Joins Consumer Affairs as Deputy Secretary, Rekha Lohani Moves to CRPF as IG
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has issued fresh orders announcing two major central deputation postings. These appointments strengthen the leadership structure in important government departments and security forces.
Prashant Dubey Posted as Deputy Secretary in Consumer Affairs
Prashant Dubey, a 2012-batch Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) officer, has been chosen for a central deputation and will now work as the Deputy Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs. His name was recommended by the Department of Defence for this role.
The DoPT order dated December 1, 2025 states that Dubey will serve in this position for four years from the day he takes charge, unless the government issues further instructions earlier. This posting is part of the government’s effort to bring capable officers into important administrative positions, helping improve decision-making and policy execution.
Rekha Lohani Appointed Inspector General in CRPF
Senior IPS officer Rekha Lohani (1997 batch, Odisha cadre) has been placed in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as an Inspector General (IG) through a lateral shift. Until now, she had been serving as IG in the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D).
As per the appointment order dated November 28, 2025, she will join CRPF once she assumes charge and will remain in this post till January 15, 2028, or until further instructions from the government.
Her deputation in the central government began on January 16, 2023, when she became IG in BPR&D for a five-year term. She will now continue her deputation service in a new position, guiding the CRPF in important administrative and operational matters.
Aim Behind the New Postings
These new appointments highlight the government’s focus on placing experienced officers in key positions. By doing so, the Centre aims to strengthen leadership, maintain continuity, and ensure smooth functioning across different departments and security agencies.
