The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, interacted today with Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers drawn from various State Civil Services who are currently participating in the 127th Induction Training Programme at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). The meeting took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

From State-Level Administration to National Responsibilities
In her address, President Murmu acknowledged the vital roles these officers had previously played at the grassroots level within their respective states. She noted that their induction into the IAS marks a transition to broader and more complex responsibilities, requiring alignment with national goals.

“You are no longer administrators of a particular region — your duty now extends to upholding governance standards across the nation,” she stated. The President encouraged them to contribute actively to the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 — a fully developed India by the 100th year of independence.

Prioritizing Inclusive Development
President Murmu emphasized that civil servants must place the needs of marginalized and underprivileged communities at the center of their work.
“Our progress as a nation is truly meaningful only when the poorest and most disadvantaged citizens experience growth and prosperity,” she said.

Leveraging Technology for Citizen-Centric Governance
Underscoring the power of technology in transforming public administration, the President urged the officers to embrace digital tools, artificial intelligence, e-governance platforms, and real-time feedback systems to improve public service delivery.
“Build systems that are transparent, efficient, and centered on the needs of citizens. Let innovation be the engine that takes your services to the last mile,” she advised.

Upholding the Core Values of Civil Service
The President concluded by reminding the officers of the essential values that define the Indian Administrative Service. She called upon them to uphold integrity, fairness, empathy, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of governance.
“Authority must be exercised with compassion and impartiality,” she said, reaffirming that ethical conduct is the cornerstone of effective public service.
