Punjab Promotes Five 2011-Batch IPS Officers to DIG Rank, One Case Deferred

The Punjab government has elevated five IPS officers of the 2011 batch to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), while keeping one officer’s case pending due to disciplinary proceedings.

Promoted Officers

The following officers have been granted provisional promotion:

Nanak Singh

Gaurav Garg

Deepak Hilori

Gurmeet Singh Chauhan

Naveen Saini

Key Conditions Attached

Nanak Singh & Deepak Hilori: Will receive financial benefits only after completing Mid-Career Training Programme (MCTP) Phase.
Gurmeet Singh Chauhan & Naveen Saini: Promotion subject to seniority review and possible revision of year of allotment by MHA.
Gaurav Garg & Deepak Hilori (on central deputation): Granted notional promotion—actual benefits applicable only upon rejoining Punjab cadre.

One Case Under Sealed Cover

Vivek Sheel Soni’s promotion has been withheld due to ongoing disciplinary proceedings.

His case will be reviewed only after the conclusion of the inquiry.

Legal & Administrative Caveats

The promotions remain provisional, pending:

Court orders (if any writ petitions are filed)

Compliance reports submitted to the Punjab & Haryana High Court
