Punjab Government Entrusts New Roles to Two Senior IPS Officers in Strategic Reshuffle
The Punjab administration has announced the immediate transfer and new postings for two high-ranking Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. This administrative decision is intended to enhance law enforcement capabilities and optimize leadership within key regional commands.
Nanak Singh Appointed as New DIG for Rupnagar Range
As per the official directive, Mr. Nanak Singh, a 2011-batch IPS officer, has been reassigned from his role as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Border Range in Amritsar. His new position will be DIG of the Rupnagar Range.
He takes over the responsibilities from Mr. H.S. Bhullar, who is currently suspended from duty. The government is leveraging Mr. Singh’s recognized professionalism and his background in border security to bolster public order in the strategically significant Rupnagar area.
Sandeep Goel Assumes Additional Command of Border Range
In a related move, Mr. Sandeep Goel, also from the 2011 IPS batch, has been given an expanded portfolio. While retaining his current position as the head of the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in Ludhiana, he will now also oversee the operations of the DIG, Border Range in Amritsar.
This dual assignment highlights the state’s dual priorities: intensifying the crackdown on organized crime through the AGTF while ensuring strong and effective policing in the vital border region.
Immediate Implementation Ordered
Both officers have been instructed to assume their new duties without delay. This reshuffle is viewed as a component of the state’s ongoing strategy to maintain high operational effectiveness, foster improved coordination among police units, and promote proactive security measures across Punjab’s most crucial zones.
Such personnel changes demonstrate a flexible governance model that focuses on placing seasoned officers in pivotal roles to improve public safety and administrative outcomes.
