Retired IFS Officer CP Marak Sworn In as Meghalaya Lokayukta Chairperson

Retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer CP Marak (1983 batch) was officially sworn in as the Chairperson of the Meghalaya Lokayukta in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan on Friday.

The oath of office was administered by Governor CH Vijayashankar, in the presence of Chief Secretary DP Wahlang, senior government officials, and other dignitaries.

Brings Decades of Experience to the Role

Mr. Marak, who retired in June 2019 as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force (HoFF) of Meghalaya, has remained actively engaged in public service. He is currently serving as the Executive Chairman of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE).

Known for his integrity, administrative skill, and commitment to public welfare, his appointment is expected to reinforce the state’s efforts to combat corruption and enhance institutional transparency.
Governor Backs New Leadership

Governor Vijayashankar, in his address, expressed full confidence in Marak’s leadership and commitment to justice.

“I am confident that under Mr. Marak’s leadership, the Lokayukta will continue to play a critical role in strengthening transparency and combating corruption,” the Governor stated.

Strengthening Governance in Meghalaya

The Meghalaya Lokayukta plays a pivotal role in investigating public grievances related to corruption and maladministration. With CP Marak at the helm, there is renewed optimism for stronger governance, accountability, and ethical conduct across public institutions in the state.
