Seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in warehousing, logistics, and agricultural policy assumes key leadership position

New Delhi: Shri Samuel Praveen Kumar has officially taken charge as Director (Marketing & Corporate Planning) at the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) for a tenure of five years, marking another milestone in his distinguished career in logistics and agri-business administration.

A Rich Career in Warehousing and Supply Chain

A career officer with the Central Warehousing Corporation since 1997, Shri Kumar brings over 25 years of diverse experience spanning warehousing operations, logistics, marketing, and supply chain management. He has held several senior positions, including Regional Manager in Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, where he oversaw regional operations for nearly a decade.

Later, as General Manager (Commercial) at the CWC Corporate Office, he managed the corporation’s commercial operations, spearheaded project management initiatives, and contributed to strategic business planning and corporate restructuring efforts.

Leadership in Agricultural Policy and Reform

Prior to his current appointment, Shri Kumar served as Joint Secretary (Extension, Investment and Price Support) in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare from December 2021 to June 2025. In this capacity, he was instrumental in framing and executing key national agricultural programs.

His contributions include the revamp and digital integration of market price support schemes such as PSS, PDPS, and MIS under the PM-AASHA framework. He also played a central role in policy design for the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF)—focusing on long-term debt financing for post-harvest management infrastructure and community-based farming assets.

Under his leadership, significant progress was made in digitizing agricultural extension systems, simplifying government procedures, and promoting investment-driven rural development.

Academic Excellence and Professional Expertise

An accomplished academic, Shri Kumar holds an M.Sc. in Agricultural Entomology (Gold Medalist), along with advanced qualifications in Personnel Management (PGDPM&IR), Materials Management (DMMT&LM), and an MBA in Marketing. His educational foundation and professional versatility have earned him recognition for integrating technical insight with administrative innovation.

Strategic Vision for CWC

As Director (Marketing & Corporate Planning), Shri Kumar is expected to lead the CWC’s efforts toward business expansion, digital modernization, and sustainable logistics growth. His appointment is viewed as a strategic move to strengthen CWC’s position as a national leader in warehousing, supply chain efficiency, and agri-logistics infrastructure.

With his blend of policy experience, managerial expertise, and forward-looking leadership, Shri Samuel Praveen Kumar is poised to steer the Central Warehousing Corporation into its next phase of growth and modernization in alignment with India’s logistics and agricultural transformation goals.
