Sanjeev Verma Appointed as Chief Electoral Officer of J&K

In a significant administrative move, senior IAS officer Sanjeev Verma has been appointed as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir. The appointment was officially notified through an order issued on May 30, 2025.

Mr. Verma, a 2001-batch IAS officer from the AGMUT cadre, is currently serving as Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department. He is widely respected for his administrative expertise and extensive experience across various departments. Over the years, he has held several key positions, including Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, and Commissioner Secretary in the General Administration Department (GAD).

Born on April 6, 1974, Mr. Verma holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in Marketing. He has been serving in the Super Time Scale (Pay Level 14) since January 1, 2017.

With a career spanning more than two decades, Mr. Verma is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening the electoral process in Jammu and Kashmir. His appointment is anticipated to bring greater transparency, efficiency, and credibility to the conduct of elections in the Union Territory.
