Sarit Maheshwari Takes Over as CEO of NTPC Green Energy Ltd; Rajiv Gupta Comes Back to NTPC

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a fully owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has appointed Sarit Maheshwari as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Key Managerial Personnel, effective May 10, 2025. His appointment follows the repatriation of Rajiv Gupta to the parent organization, NTPC.

The development was formally announced through a regulatory filing made by the company to stock exchanges on Saturday.

A veteran of the power sector with over 35 years of experience, Maheshwari brings a strong blend of technical and managerial expertise. He holds a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, an M.Tech in Power Generation Technology from IIT Delhi, and an MBA in Marketing Management from IGNOU.

Before this role, Maheshwari was at the helm of NTPC Renewable Energy Limited and also led NTPC Rajasthan Green Energy Limited, a joint venture between NGEL and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited. His career within NTPC has included key leadership positions, including Head of Project at NTPC Korba.

His elevation to CEO of NGEL signifies a focused leadership transition as the company accelerates its efforts to expand its renewable energy footprint and contribute to India’s ambitious clean energy targets.
