Currently Serving in Jammu & Kashmir, Nitya to Join Husband and IPS Officer Pankaj Yadav in Rajasthan
In a move approved by the Central Government, IPS officer PD Nitya, currently posted as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir, has been transferred from the AGMUT cadre to the Rajasthan cadre. The inter-cadre transfer has been made on the grounds of her marriage to IPS officer Pankaj Yadav, who belongs to the Rajasthan cadre.
The transfer was formally notified in an order issued by DK Ghosh, Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), under the provisions of Rule 5(2) of the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954.
Cadre Transfer Approved by Centre, Rajasthan Govt, and UT Division
The official order states:
“In exercise of the powers conferred under Sub-Rule (2) of the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, and with the concurrence of the UT Division of this Ministry and the Government of Rajasthan, the Central Government hereby transfers PD Nitya, IPS (AGMUT: 2016) from AGMUT cadre to Rajasthan cadre on the grounds of her marriage to Pankaj Yadav, IPS (RJ: 2022).”
Such inter-cadre transfers are permitted to accommodate married officers serving in different state cadres, in line with IPS service rules that support family unification.
PD Nitya: A Career Marked by Tough Postings in J&K
PD Nitya has held several critical and high-responsibility positions in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Prior to her current role in Pulwama—one of the region’s most volatile districts—she served as SSP Leh, another strategically significant posting.
Recognized for her calm leadership, on-ground presence, and administrative effectiveness, her tenure in Kashmir has earned praise for maintaining law and order under challenging circumstances.
Pankaj Yadav: IPS Officer from Rajasthan Cadre
Her spouse, Pankaj Yadav, is a 2022-batch IPS officer from the Rajasthan cadre. With this transfer, the couple will now be serving within the same state cadre, a move that reflects the government’s commitment to both service efficiency and family welfare.
