As per the sources ahead of Lok Sabhi polls of 2024 the CM may pick his most favorite officer as Director General of Police for the state.
State of Uttar Pradesh is yet to start the process of appointing a permanent DGP. According to the speculations, an acting (DGP) is going to be appointed this time also.
Year 1988 batch Indian Police Services officer Vijay Kumar is the incumbent officiating DGP of Uttar Pradesh who is scheduled to retire on January 31, 2024.
In the race for the new DGP in UP, IPS Prashant Kumar (IPS: 1990: UP) and IPS Anand Kumar (IPS: 1988: UP) are the ones who appear to have more chances than the others.
