Anish Prasad Appointed as Inspector General in BSF on Lateral Deputation – Here’s What You Need to Know
Senior IPS officer Anish Prasad (Tripura cadre, 2003 batch) has been appointed as Inspector General in the Border Security Force (BSF) on a lateral deputation basis. Currently serving as Executive Director (Vigilance – Police) in the Railway Board, Prasad will assume his new role in BSF upon taking charge. His tenure will extend until June 21, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, marking the culmination of his five-year central deputation period, which began on June 22, 2021.
An alumnus of IIT-BHU with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Prasad also holds a prestigious international fellowship in Cyber Security from Cranfield University, UK, reflecting his expertise in digital policing and cyber defence—a growing area of focus for internal security forces.
Over his distinguished career, Prasad has built a strong reputation in vigilance, investigation, and cyber security. He spent 12 years with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), handling several high-profile and complex cases that further strengthened his credentials in investigative and enforcement operations.
