The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced a major reshuffle in the police department, reallocating key responsibilities and field postings across ranks. The transfers and additional assignments, issued via an official order from the Home Department, take immediate effect.
A significant highlight of the reshuffle is the assignment of additional charges to Mr. Uttam Chand, a 2002-batch IPS officer from the AGMUT cadre. Currently serving as IG (POS) at Police Headquarters (PHQ), he will now also oversee the roles of IGP (Headquarters) PHQ, IG (Technical), and IG (Telecom). These portfolios were earlier held by M. Suleman Choudhary, a 2007-batch IPS officer, who has now been relieved of these responsibilities.

Vinod Kumar, 2011-batch IPS officer and DIG Armed Jammu, has been given the additional charge of DIG IR Jammu.

Mohd. Arshad, a JKPS officer and Director Home Guards, Jammu, will now also function as DIG HG/CD & SDRF, Jammu.

Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, formerly Additional SP Anantnag (Overall Reserve Post), has been posted as Deputy Commanding Officer, IR-23 Battalion, replacing Rameez Raja.
This reshuffle is viewed as part of a routine administrative overhaul aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reinforcing law enforcement mechanisms across critical regions in Jammu and Kashmir.
