Bihar Govt Transfers 5 IPS Officers, 8 DSPs in Major Police Reshuffle; Sanjay Singh Appointed ADG Security

In a major administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening Bihar’s policing, security management and specialised investigation systems, the Bihar Government has transferred five IPS officers and eight Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)-rank officers across key assignments in the state police setup.

The latest changes affect senior officers at the levels of Additional Director General (ADG), Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Superintendent of Police (SP), besides several field-level officers posted in district policing, cybercrime investigation, vigilance and special operations units.

Officials said the reshuffle has been carried out with a focus on improving operational efficiency, enhancing cybercrime response capabilities and reinforcing law-and-order management across Bihar.

Sanjay Singh Appointed ADG (Security)

Senior IPS officer Sanjay Singh of the 1997 batch has been appointed as Additional Director General (Security), one of the most crucial assignments in the state police structure. In addition to his new responsibilities, he has also been entrusted with the additional charge of ADG (Budget, Appeal and Welfare).

The posting places him in charge of overseeing critical security-related operations and coordination within the Bihar Police establishment. His dual responsibility is expected to strengthen both administrative management and security oversight.

Aditya Kumar Posted as Commandant, BSAP-14

2011-batch IPS officer Aditya Kumar has been transferred from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and appointed as Commandant of Bihar Special Armed Police-14 (BSAP-14).

Apart from heading the armed police battalion, he will also continue to hold the additional charge of Superintendent of Police, CID-3. His appointment is being viewed as part of the government’s efforts to enhance coordination between specialised armed units and investigative agencies.

Anand Kumar Given DIG (Security) Charge

Another important posting in the reshuffle is that of Anand Kumar, a 2012-batch IPS officer, who has been appointed Deputy Inspector General (Security).

He will simultaneously continue to hold the additional responsibility of DIG (Law and Order), thereby playing a key role in both statewide security coordination and policing operations related to public order management.

Rajesh Kumar Shifted to Cyber Wing

In a move highlighting Bihar Police’s increasing focus on cybercrime and digital investigations, Rajesh Kumar, a 2016-batch promotee IPS officer, has been transferred from the post of Superintendent of Police, Naugachia.

He has now been posted as Superintendent of Police, Cyber Research and Operations in the Economic Offences Unit (EOU), Patna. The assignment is considered significant as Bihar Police continues to strengthen its cybercrime investigation capabilities amid the rise in online fraud and digital financial crimes.

Vaibhav Sharma Appointed SP, Naugachia

IPS officer Vaibhav Sharma of the 2018 batch has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police of Naugachia.

Prior to this transfer, Sharma was serving as SP, Cyber Research and Operations in the Economic Offences Unit. His posting to Naugachia is expected to bring experience in specialised investigations and technology-driven policing to district law enforcement.

Eight DSP-Level Officers Also Transferred

The Bihar Government has simultaneously issued transfer orders for eight DSP-rank officers across various districts and specialised units.

Among the key postings, Gaurav Kumar has been appointed SDPO-2, Purnia (Sadar), while Anupesh Narayan has been posted as SDPO, Nirmali in Supaul district. Gopal Krishna has been assigned as SDPO, Mohania in Kaimur district.

Vikas Kumar has been transferred to the Special Task Force (STF), Patna, while Kaushal Kishore Kamal has been posted to the CID in Patna.

Ranjan Kumar Singh has been appointed DSP (Traffic), Purnia. Meanwhile, Suresh Prasad Ram and Krishna Kumar Gupta have both been transferred to the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU), Patna.

Focus on Security, Cybercrime and Administrative Efficiency

Officials indicated that the reshuffle is intended to place experienced officers in strategically important operational assignments dealing with security management, cyber investigations, vigilance operations and district policing.

The latest transfers reflect the Bihar Government’s emphasis on strengthening specialised policing units and improving coordination among various law enforcement wings at a time when challenges related to cybercrime, organised offences and public security continue to evolve rapidly.
