Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Siddharth Kaushal, a 2012-batch officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre, has tendered his voluntary resignation, concluding a distinguished career in law enforcement.

Resignation “Personal and Independent”

In an official statement, Mr. Kaushal emphasized that his decision was made after deep personal reflection and was entirely independent, personal, and voluntary. “It aligns with my long-term life goals and the wishes of my family,” he stated.

He described his IPS tenure as “the most fulfilling and enriching journey of my life,” and expressed heartfelt gratitude toward the people of Andhra Pradesh. “This state has always been my home, and its people will remain in my heart with deep affection and pride,” he added.

Firm Denial of Harassment Claims

Addressing media speculation, Mr. Kaushal categorically denied any allegations of harassment or external pressure behind his resignation. “Such claims are completely baseless and misleading,” he reiterated.

Nonetheless, sources indicate that systemic challenges within the police service—such as delayed postings and frequent transfers—may have contributed to the timing of his departure.

Transition to Private Sector

Reliable sources suggest that Mr. Kaushal is likely to move into the private sector, with expectations of a senior corporate role based in Delhi. He expressed optimism about the future, stating his intent to “contribute to society in new and meaningful ways.”

Recognized for Public-Centric Innovations

During his tenure as Superintendent of Police in Krishna and Prakasam districts, Mr. Kaushal was nationally recognized for his pioneering work in public grievance redressal. He received the DG Bureau of Police Research and Development Project Disc Award for launching the Spandana video conference initiative—an outreach programme introduced prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The award was presented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the All India DG-IG Conference in 2020, where Mr. Kaushal’s efforts were lauded for enhancing police-public engagement.
