Bihar: Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle – 12 IAS & 6 IPS Officers Shifted; SDOs Appointed in 36 Subdivisions

In a major administrative overhaul, the Bihar government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has issued transfer orders for 12 IAS and 6 IPS officers, while also appointing Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) across 36 subdivisions. The move is aimed at accelerating developmental initiatives and strengthening administrative delivery across the state.

According to a notification from the General Administration Department, all transfers take immediate effect, with most IAS officers designated as Deputy Development Commissioners (DDCs) in key districts.

Key IAS Appointments:

  • Dr. Preeti (IAS 2019), who previously served as Commissioner of Bhagalpur Municipal Corporation, has been appointed DDC-cum-CEO of Jehanabad District Council.

  • Anupama Singh (IAS 2020), earlier posted as DDC-cum-CEO, Bhojpur (Ara), has been shifted to the Health Department as Joint Secretary.

  • Gunjan Singh (IAS 2020) will now take over as DDC-cum-CEO, Bhojpur (Ara).

  • Shubham Kumar (IAS 2021), the UPSC Civil Services 2020 topper, has been appointed Municipal Commissioner, Bhagalpur. A native of Katihar, Bihar, Shubham’s appointment is being closely watched as part of the state’s new generation of bureaucratic leadership.

The reshuffle is expected to bring renewed administrative focus and improved coordination at the district level, particularly in view of ongoing infrastructure and welfare programs.
