In a special mentorship session under the Punjab Government’s flagship School Mentorship Program, Dr. Ravjot Grewal, a 2015-batch IPS officer and AIG (Counter Intelligence), interacted with students of the School of Eminence at Sri Chamkaur Sahib, offering valuable guidance on UPSC preparation and setting academic and career goals.
Addressing students from classes XI and XII, Dr. Grewal emphasized the importance of having clarity and conviction when charting one’s educational and professional path. “The first step is to identify your area of interest and then commit yourself wholeheartedly to that goal with unwavering focus,” she advised.
Praising the state’s Punjab Sikhiya Kranti initiative, Dr. Grewal highlighted how the transformation of school infrastructure, along with mentorship by civil servants, is paving the way for a more inspired and goal-oriented student community. “The physical infrastructure is only one part. True change happens when students are mentored and empowered to unlock their potential,” she said.
She encouraged students to recognize their unique strengths, stressing that discipline, hard work, and self-belief are essential for success. “Every child has innate talent. With the right guidance and by embracing opportunities, achieving one’s dreams becomes a real possibility,” she noted.
Drawing from her own UPSC journey, Dr. Grewal urged students to make informed choices, stay committed to their aspirations, and leverage digital learning tools for exam preparation. She also shared insights on various academic and career pathways available after school, particularly for those aiming for competitive exams like the UPSC.
The session saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and representatives of the School Management Committee. Students expressed heartfelt appreciation to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains for launching the mentorship program, which has enabled direct interactions with accomplished role models like Dr. Grewal.
