Continued Delays Reflect Challenges in Forming Key Pay Panel Components
The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has once again extended the deadline to apply for four Under Secretary-level posts (Level-11) under the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC). The new deadline is now July 31, 2025, marking the third extension since the original closing date of May 21. Earlier deadlines of June 10 and June 30 suggest ongoing difficulties in attracting suitably qualified candidates.
Posts Open on Deputation Basis
As outlined in the circular dated April 22, 2025, the Department of Expenditure is inviting applications from officers belonging to the All India Services (AIS) or other Organised Group-A Central Services. The positions are to be filled on a deputation basis, aligned with the tenure of the 8th Pay Commission.
Eligibility Criteria: Pay Policy Expertise and Data Analysis Skills
Applicants must have a strong background in handling issues related to Central government pay structures, along with proven data analysis capabilities. These competencies are crucial for contributing meaningfully to the Commission’s mandate, which includes evaluating salary frameworks, allowances, and service conditions.
Tenure Co-terminus with the 8th CPC
The selected officers will serve for the entire duration of the 8th Central Pay Commission. Upon its conclusion, they may be considered for placement under the Central Staffing Scheme, subject to their remaining service tenure.
