In a significant political development, Dr. K.G. Arunraj, a former Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, has formally joined Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and has been appointed as the party’s General Secretary for Propaganda and Policy. The announcement was made on Monday, June 9, 2025, by TVK president Vijay, the actor-turned-

olitician and founder of the party.

A qualified medical doctor, Dr. Arunraj had an illustrious career in the Income Tax Department, serving across Tamil Nadu, Bihar, and Maharashtra. He opted for voluntary retirement to transition into public service through active politics.

Cross-Party Support Grows for TVK

Dr. Arunraj’s entry into TVK coincided with the induction of former AIADMK MLA R. Rajalakshmi and former DMK MLA David Selvan, underscoring the party’s cross-party appeal and its rising influence in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.

A statement from TVK highlighted the party’s ongoing efforts to bring together individuals from diverse political and professional backgrounds, as part of its strategy to broaden its leadership base.

New Faces in TVK’s Expanding Roster

Several other notable figures also joined TVK, including:

A. Sridharan, founder of Dravida Murpokku Makkal Katchi and former AIADMK MLA

N. Marie Wilson, Managing Director, Jeppiaar Institute of Technology

C. Subash, a former judge

These additions reflect TVK’s commitment to creating a leadership team that spans politics, bureaucracy, education, and law—an effort to strengthen its credibility ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Strategic Expansion Ahead of Elections?

The influx of technocrats, retired bureaucrats, and former lawmakers is being viewed as a calculated move by TVK to enhance its political clout in the run-up to the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu.

With Vijay’s mass appeal and a steadily growing team of professionals and seasoned leaders, TVK appears poised to emerge as a formidable and inclusive political alternative in the state.
