ACC Extends Hemang Jani’s Foreign Deputation at World Bank by One Year Till July 2027
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a one-year extension in the foreign deputation tenure of Shri Hemang Jani as Senior Adviser to the Executive Director at the World Bank in Washington, D.C., USA.
The approval was conveyed through an Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on July 15, 2026, following a proposal submitted by the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance.
One-Year Extension Approved
According to the DoPT order, Hemang Jani’s tenure has been extended for one year beyond July 16, 2026, allowing him to continue in his current assignment up to July 16, 2027.
The order also specifies that the extension will remain valid until his successor assumes charge, whichever is earlier.
Continues Key Role at the World Bank
Hemang Jani is currently serving as Senior Adviser to the Executive Director at the World Bank, one of India’s important international financial engagements.
In this role, he supports the Executive Director in matters relating to the World Bank’s governance, development financing, economic policy discussions and engagement with member countries.
His continued presence is expected to ensure continuity in India’s representation and policy coordination at the multilateral financial institution.
Proposal Moved by Department of Economic Affairs
The extension was approved on the recommendation of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance.
The DEA had sought continuation of Hemang Jani’s foreign deputation, and the proposal subsequently received the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
ACC Approval
The latest order reflects the government’s decision to retain experienced officers in strategically important international assignments where continuity and institutional knowledge are considered valuable.
With the extension now approved, Hemang Jani will continue serving as Senior Adviser to the Executive Director, World Bank, Washington, D.C., until July 16, 2027, or until a successor takes over the position, whichever is earlier.
