IAS Officer Mugdha Sinha has been appointed as new MD of India Tourism Development Corporation.
Senior IAS officer Mugdha Sinha, from the 1999 batch of the Rajasthan cadre, has officially assumed charge as the new Managing Director of India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (ITDC), a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Tourism. The announcement was made on Monday via a regulatory filing by ITDC to the stock exchanges.
Her appointment, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), was communicated through an Office Memorandum dated April 28, 2025. Ms. Sinha will serve at the rank and pay scale of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
A distinguished civil servant with over 26 years of wide-ranging administrative experience, Ms. Sinha brings a rich and diverse portfolio to her new role. Prior to this, she served as Director General (Tourism) in the Ministry of Tourism and earlier as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, where she led several key initiatives, including three major cultural events in 2023.
Her extensive career includes leadership roles such as Managing Director of the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and Head of the Rajasthan unit of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). She has also held significant positions in the Ministries of Food and Consumer Affairs, Science & Technology, and Culture.
As Director General of the Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK), she conceptualized and launched the pioneering Astro Night Sky Tourism initiative, contributing to the recognition of Hanle in Ladakh as India’s first Dark Sky Reserve.
An alumna of Lady Shri Ram College (Delhi University), Jawaharlal Nehru University, and the University of California, Berkeley, Ms. Sinha has earned several prestigious accolades, including the Ford Foundation Scholarship, NET-JRF Fellowship, the Manorama Desai Award, and the ELSA Change Maker of the Year Award in 2020. In 2024, she was honored with the Raja Kakil Dev Sawai Jaipur Award for her significant contributions to cultural development.
Ms. Sinha’s appointment is expected to infuse fresh vision and dynamic leadership into ITDC as India continues to enhance its tourism infrastructure and strengthen its global presence.
