According to Kharge, Gangawar explained that he’d needed to rush to his hometown because of a family emergency, and that he had sought leave before making that trip. The minister also pointed out that the officer’s official phone being unreachable played a big role in why the situation spiraled into confusion and speculation in the first place. Basically, had that one communication channel stayed open, this whole episode might never have become the story it did.

What added an extra layer of interest to this story is where Gangawar has served in the past. He’s currently posted with the MSME department, but before that, he held the position of Controller of Examinations at the Karnataka Public Service Commission.
