Ladakh Police Reshuffle: Pawan Kumar Appointed SP Traffic, Gets Additional Security Charge
The Ladakh Administration has carried out a key change in its police setup, appointing IPS officer Pawan Kumar as Superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic with immediate effect. The posting comes after Vikas Kumar, IPS, was relieved of his responsibilities as SSP Traffic and directed to report to the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi for further duties.
Along with his new traffic assignment, Pawan Kumar has also been given additional charge of SP Security and Police Telecommunication. He will hold these responsibilities until further orders, placing traffic management, security and police communication functions under his supervision during the current administrative arrangement.
The latest changes have been made in pursuance of an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on September 2, 2026. The Ladakh Administration subsequently issued the order giving effect to the changes in the Union Territory’s police establishment.
Vikas Kumar Relieved From Key Ladakh Assignments
Vikas Kumar, IPS (AGMUT:2013), has been relieved of his responsibilities as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic in Ladakh. He had also been holding additional charge of SSP Security and Police Telecommunication.
According to the administrative order, Kumar was relieved from these responsibilities with effect from the afternoon of September 8. He has subsequently been directed to report to the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi for further duties.
The move marks a change in the officer overseeing traffic management as well as the additional security and police telecommunication responsibilities that had been entrusted to Kumar. With his departure from these assignments, the Ladakh Administration has moved quickly to ensure that the important portfolios continue to function without any administrative gap.
Vikas Kumar is a 2013-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre. His direction to report to the Delhi government means that his next responsibilities will be determined there following his relief from the Ladakh assignment.
Pawan Kumar Gets Immediate Posting
