The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of IAS officer Smitha Mol (Tripura cadre, 2013 batch) as Deputy Secretary in the 8th Central Pay Commission under the Department of Expenditure on a lateral shift basis, co‑terminus with the Commission, extendable up to April 14, 2029, or until further orders.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the recommendation of the Civil Services Board (CSB) for the appointment of Ms. Smitha Mol M.S., an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Tripura cadre, 2013 batch, who is presently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, to the position of Deputy Secretary in the 8th Central Pay Commission (CPC) under the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.

This appointment has been made on a lateral shift basis, a mechanism that enables officers to move across ministries to take up roles where their expertise is most relevant. The tenure of Ms. Smitha Mol will be co‑terminus with the 8th CPC, and is further extendable up to 14 April 2029. This extension corresponds to the balance period of the admissible four‑year tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme, or until further orders are issued, whichever occurs earlier.
