Major Shake-up in Bihar: 3 IAS Get New Roles, 2 Deputed to Centre; Pankaj Kumar Posted Principal Secy

Patna, June 10: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Bihar government has announced fresh postings for three IAS officers and relieved two others for central deputation. The reassignments, including a key change in the Energy Department, were formalized through transfer orders issued by the General Administration Department.

Key Appointments and Departmental Changes

Pankaj Kumar (IAS, 1997 batch): Previously serving as Principal Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department, Kumar has now been appointed as Principal Secretary, Agriculture Department. In addition to this role, he will also hold the additional charges of:

Investigation Commissioner, General Administration Department

Principal Secretary, Food and Consumer Protection Department

Managing Director, Bihar State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation, Patna

Manoj Kumar Singh (Promotee IAS, 2012 batch): Currently Secretary, Health Department, Singh will take over as Secretary, Energy Department. He has also been entrusted with the additional responsibilities of:

Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited

Special Officer, Office of the Resident Commissioner, Bihar Bhawan, New Delhi

Pankaj Kumar Pal (IAS, 2002 batch): Former Secretary of the Energy Department, Pal has now been transferred as Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department, replacing Pankaj Kumar.

Central Deputation of Two Senior IAS Officers

Two senior IAS officers have been relieved for central assignments:

Dayanidhan Pandey (IAS, 2006 batch): Formerly Additional Member, Revenue Council Department, Patna, Pandey has been deputed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Government of India. His central posting becomes effective upon formal release from the state cadre.

The reshuffle reflects Bihar’s ongoing efforts to optimize governance and fill key administrative positions following the departure of officers to central roles. These strategic assignments are aimed at ensuring administrative continuity and strengthening departmental leadership across critical sectors.
