In a recent administrative reshuffle, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has transferred two IPS officers and one IAS officer from the AGMUT cadre to Chandigarh.
According to the official order, Mr. Raj Kumar Singh, a 2004-batch IPS officer who was holding additional charge as the Director General of Police (DGP) in Chandigarh, has been moved to Delhi. His transfer leaves the DGP post in Chandigarh vacant following the earlier departure of Mr. Surendra Yadav.
To fill the gap, Mr. Pushpendra Kumar, a 2006-batch IPS officer, has been transferred from Delhi to Chandigarh. Alongside him, Ms. K.M. Prianka, a 2021-batch IPS officer, has also been posted to Chandigarh from Delhi.
On the civil services front, Mr. Pardeep Kumar, a 2013-batch IAS officer, has been shifted from Jammu and Kashmir to Chandigarh as part of the same order.
While the reshuffle falls under routine cadre management within the AGMUT framework, the continued vacancy in the DGP role raises concerns over leadership continuity in Chandigarh’s police force.
