MMTC: IAS Nitin Kumar Yadav Assigned Addl Charge as The CMD

IAS Officer Nitin Kumar Yadav has received an Additional Charge as CMD of MMTC, PEC, and STC.

 Haryana cadre IAS officer Nitin Kumar Yadav (2000) has been given additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of three major public sector enterprises – MMTC Ltd, PEC Ltd, and STC Ltd. Mr. Yadav currently serves as Joint Secretary in the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

This additional assignment is effective immediately and will be in place for a period of one year. The move is seen as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the leadership and streamline the functioning of its key trading corporations to enhance operational efficiency and strategic focus.

About the Organizations:

MMTC Limited:
One of India’s largest public sector trading companies, MMTC is among the country’s top foreign exchange earners. It deals in the import and export of a wide array of commodities including coal, iron ore, fertilizers, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as various agro and industrial products.

PEC Limited:
Initially established as the Project and Equipment Corporation of India Ltd. in 1971, PEC operates under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It has played a significant role in India’s foreign trade landscape, particularly in project exports and industrial equipment.

STC Limited (State Trading Corporation of India):
Formed in 1956, STC has a long history in international trade, particularly in bulk agro-commodities like rice, wheat, and edible oils. Over the past two decades, it has diversified into sectors such as bullion, petrochemicals, minerals, and fertilizers to adapt to liberalized trade policies.

Mr. Yadav’s expanded portfolio reflects the government’s intent to provide strong administrative oversight and strategic leadership in reinvigorating these trading PSUs in a competitive global market.
