Madhya Pradesh Transfers 3 IPS Officers; Ashutosh Bagri Appointed Burhanpur SP, Ravnesh Sagar Moved to PHQ
The Madhya Pradesh government has carried out a fresh reshuffle in the state police administration, transferring three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and assigning them new responsibilities in key operational and administrative positions. The transfer orders, issued by the Home Department on Sunday, are being viewed as part of the state government’s continuing efforts to strengthen policing, improve field administration, and streamline command structures across important districts and units.
The latest reshuffle includes the posting of senior IPS officer Ashutosh Bagri as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) of Burhanpur district, while Ravnesh Sagar has been shifted to the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Bhopal. Another officer, Vidita Dagar, has also been assigned a new role within the Special Armed Force (SAF).
The appointments come at a time when the Madhya Pradesh government has been undertaking regular administrative changes across both civil and police departments to enhance operational efficiency and governance delivery.
Ravnesh Sagar Shifted to Police Headquarters
Ravnesh Sagar, a 2010-batch IPS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been transferred from Gwalior to Bhopal. Prior to the latest order, he was serving as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Commandant of the 2nd Battalion, Special Armed Force (SAF), Gwalior.
Under the new posting, he will serve as DIG at the Police Headquarters in Bhopal. The move places him in a strategically significant administrative position where he is expected to contribute to policy coordination, police management, and operational supervision at the state level.
Sagar has previously handled important policing and command assignments during his career and is regarded as an experienced officer within the state police setup.
Ashutosh Bagri Appointed SP of Burhanpur
In another important transfer, 2015-batch IPS officer Ashutosh Bagri has been appointed as the Superintendent of Police of Burhanpur district.
Before this posting, Bagri was serving as Commandant of the 17th Battalion SAF in Bhind. His appointment to Burhanpur is considered significant because the district holds strategic importance due to its geographical location and law-and-order sensitivities.
As district police chief, Bagri will now oversee policing, crime control, intelligence coordination, public safety, and law-and-order management in Burhanpur. Senior officials said the posting reflects the government’s confidence in his operational capabilities and leadership experience.
Vidita Dagar Gets New SAF Assignment
The reshuffle also includes the transfer of 2021-batch IPS officer Vidita Dagar. She was previously posted as Additional Superintendent of Police in Gwalior.
Under the new order, Dagar has been appointed as Commandant of the 2nd Battalion, SAF, Gwalior. The assignment is considered an important field responsibility for a young IPS officer and is expected to provide her greater command-level administrative and operational exposure within the Special Armed Force structure.
Focus on Administrative Efficiency
Officials said the latest transfers are part of the Madhya Pradesh government’s broader strategy to strengthen policing and administrative coordination across the state. Periodic reshuffles within the police department are often aimed at ensuring effective deployment of officers based on experience, regional requirements, and evolving security priorities.
The Home Department’s notification stated that the transfers would take effect immediately, with the officers directed to assume charge of their new responsibilities without delay.
