A high-security alert has been issued across Rajasthan after Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and senior IAS officer Neeraj K Pawan (2003 batch) were targeted in a threatening email sent from an account using the name Divij Prabhakara. The email, received on Thursday, contained explicit death threats and warnings of bomb threats at cricket stadiums to draw public attention.

The threatening message was sent to multiple recipients, including an official email address linked to the Chief Minister’s Office, as well as a private citizen. The email made serious allegations, accusing individuals of crimes such as rape and dowry harassment, and included detailed personal data of the alleged perpetrators.

According to Additional DCP Kunwar Rashtradeep, cybercrime and intelligence teams have been mobilized to trace the sender and verify the legitimacy of the threats. As a precaution, security has been tightened at key government offices and sports venues, especially in Jaipur.

The email’s author also claimed they would evade prosecution by pleading mental illness and stated that they already possessed medical documentation to support this claim. Authorities are currently investigating this angle as well.

Officials emphasized that the accusations in the email remain unsubstantiated, and the communication is being treated both as a credible threat and a potential hoax. The message also contained sensitive personal information, including Aadhaar-linked hotel check-in records and phone numbers, which are now being analyzed for authenticity.

Further action will depend on the results of forensic analysis and digital tracking currently underway, police said.
