ACC Extends IP&TAFS Officer Sanap Bajirao Ramnath’s Central Deputation in Defence Ministry Till 2028

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a two-year extension in the Central deputation tenure of Shri Sanap Bajirao Ramnath (IP&TAFS:2011), allowing him to continue as Director in the Ministry of Defence under the Central Staffing Scheme.

The extension has been approved beyond September 22, 2026, enabling the officer to remain in the Ministry of Defence until September 22, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The decision has been communicated through an Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

ACC Approves Two-Year Extension

According to the official order, the extension has been approved following a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Defence.

The ACC has cleared the continuation of Shri Sanap Bajirao Ramnath, a 2011-batch Indian Posts and Telecommunications Accounts and Finance Service (IP&TAFS) officer, in his present assignment as Director in the Ministry of Defence.

His extended tenure will run from September 23, 2026, to September 22, 2028, subject to further orders issued by the Government of India.

Serving in Defence Ministry Since 2021

The DoPT order notes that Sanap Bajirao Ramnath has been serving on Central deputation since September 23, 2021.

He was appointed to the Ministry of Defence under the Central Staffing Scheme, where he has been handling responsibilities at the Director level.

With the latest approval, his deputation will now continue for an additional two years, ensuring continuity in the ministry’s administrative functioning.

Proposal Cleared on Defence Ministry’s Recommendation

The extension follows a proposal submitted by the Ministry of Defence through its Office Memorandum dated June 23, 2026.

After examining the proposal, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet granted approval for extending the officer’s deputation under the existing Central Staffing Scheme provisions.

Such extensions are generally considered to maintain continuity in key assignments where the experience and institutional knowledge of officers are considered valuable for ongoing administrative and policy work.

About the Central Staffing Scheme

The Central Staffing Scheme enables officers from various All India Services and Central Civil Services to serve in important positions across ministries and departments of the Government of India.

Appointments and extensions under the scheme require the approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, particularly in senior-level positions such as Director, Joint Secretary and above.

The scheme helps the Union Government utilise experienced officers across different services and cadres in strategic policymaking and administrative roles.

Official Order Issued by DoPT

The Office Memorandum communicating the extension has been issued by the Office of the Establishment Officer, Department of Personnel and Training.

Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretariat, the Department of Telecommunications, the Ministry of Defence, and other concerned authorities for information and necessary action.

The latest ACC decision ensures that Sanap Bajirao Ramnath will continue serving as Director in the Ministry of Defence for another two years, providing continuity in the ministry’s administrative leadership under the Central Staffing Scheme.
