Telangana Government Reshuffles Senior IPS Officers; Appoints New Heads Across Key Departments

In a major administrative reshuffle, the Telangana government has transferred and reassigned several senior IPS officers, bringing significant changes to the leadership structure of the state’s police force.

According to a government order dated June 4, the new postings aim to strengthen critical departments, including cyber security, CID, women’s safety, and district policing.

Abhilasha Bisht Appointed Director of Police Academy
Senior IPS officer Abhilasha Bisht (1994 batch), who had been awaiting a posting, has been appointed Director of the RBVRR Telangana State Police Academy in Hyderabad. She succeeds V.V. Srinivasa Rao (1995 batch), who had been serving in the role on a temporary basis.

Shikha Goel to Head Telangana Cyber Security Bureau

Shikha Goel (1994 batch), formerly DGP, CID and a key figure in women’s safety programs, has been appointed Director of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau. Additionally, she has been given full additional charge of the Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad, until further notice.

Charu Sinha Returns to Head CID and Women’s Safety

Charu Sinha (1996 batch), repatriated from central deputation, will now serve as Additional Director General of Police, CID, succeeding Goel. She will also lead critical women’s safety initiatives, including SHE Teams and Bharosa, reinforcing the state’s commitment to gender-sensitive policing.

Tafseer Iqubal Named DIG, Charminar Zone

Tafseer Iqubal (2008 batch), previously posted in the Minorities Welfare Department, has been appointed Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Zone VI (Charminar), returning to a core policing role.

Key District-Level Changes in Medak, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, and Hyderabad

Several key district-level appointments have also been made

D.V. Srinivasa Rao (2013 batch) has been appointed Superintendent of Police (SP), Medak.

Patil Kantilal Subhash (2020 batch) will now serve as SP, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, replacing Srinivasa Rao.

S. Chaitanya Kumar (2020 batch) has taken charge as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South East Zone, Hyderabad, succeeding Subhash.

These strategic appointments are intended to boost administrative efficiency and enhance policing across both urban and rural areas of Telangana.
