DGP Rajeev Krishna Delivers a Strong Message on Leadership

Addressing the gathering after the ceremony, DGP Rajeev Krishna reminded the newly promoted officers that wearing the IPS insignia also brings greater responsibility.

He described policing as one of the country’s most challenging public service professions, where officers are expected to take quick decisions, maintain law and order, ensure public safety and inspire confidence among citizens.

The DGP urged the officers to discharge every responsibility with complete honesty, transparency and accountability.

According to him, integrity should remain the foundation of every policing decision, while professionalism and discipline must guide officers throughout their careers.

Uphold the Legacy of Uttar Pradesh Police

Rajeev Krishna also called upon the newly promoted IPS officers to preserve and strengthen the long-standing traditions of the Uttar Pradesh Police.

He encouraged them to remain committed to public welfare, perform their duties without fear or favour and continue working with sincerity wherever they are posted.

The DGP stressed that citizens place enormous trust in the police force, making it essential for every IPS officer to act fairly, responsibly and with complete dedication.

He also reminded the officers that leadership is not merely about authority but about setting an example for junior personnel through conduct, discipline and professional ethics.

Promotion Brings Greater Responsibilities

Promotion to the IPS is widely viewed as recognition of an officer’s experience and capability. At the same time, it also brings expanded administrative and operational responsibilities.

As IPS officers, they may now be entrusted with leadership roles in district policing, crime investigation, law and order management, intelligence, training, vigilance and specialized police units.

Their experience as PPS officers is expected to help them effectively manage increasingly complex policing challenges while mentoring younger officers within the force.

Strengthening the Leadership of Uttar Pradesh Police

The induction of 28 experienced officers into the IPS cadre is expected to further strengthen the leadership structure of the Uttar Pradesh Police.

With the state’s policing responsibilities growing in scale and complexity, the addition of seasoned officers to senior leadership positions is expected to enhance administrative efficiency, improve operational planning and reinforce law and order management across Uttar Pradesh.

The promoted officers bring decades of practical policing experience from various districts and specialized assignments, making them well-equipped to take on higher responsibilities in the state’s police hierarchy.

Ceremony Reflects Recognition of Dedicated Service

The Pipping Ceremony was more than a formal administrative event. It served as recognition of years of dedicated service rendered by officers who progressed through the ranks of the Provincial Police Service before earning promotion to the IPS.

The occasion also highlighted the importance of experience, perseverance and commitment in building leadership within one of India’s largest police forces.

With the IPS insignia now adorning their uniforms, the promoted officers begin a new phase of public service, carrying greater authority along with greater responsibility.

As they move into their new assignments, the message from DGP Rajeev Krishna was clear – uphold integrity, serve the public with dedication, protect the traditions of the Uttar Pradesh Police and lead with professionalism in every situation.
