Senior IAS officer B.V.R.C. Purushottam, from the 2004 batch of the Uttarakhand cadre, has formally submitted his application for Voluntary Retirement (VRS).

Currently serving at the secretary level in the Uttarakhand government, Mr. Purushottam holds dual responsibilities as Secretary of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry and Chief Executive Officer of the State Election Commission.

According to sources close to the officer, the decision to opt for early retirement stems from personal considerations, particularly his wish to return to his native state and care for his aged parents. In a statement to Doon Mirror, Mr. Purushottam confirmed that his VRS application has been submitted.

The proposal is presently under review by the Uttarakhand Personnel Department and will subsequently be sent to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) at the central level for final clearance. Experts estimate that the full approval process may take one to two months.

Widely respected for his administrative acumen, Mr. Purushottam has earned a reputation for efficient and effective governance, and his departure, if approved, will mark the exit of one of the state’s most capable civil servants.
