Odisha IPS Reshuffle: Smit Parmar Appointed Nayagarh SP, Major Changes in 10 Districts

The Government of Odisha on Saturday carried out a fresh reshuffle in the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre, transferring and posting several senior police officers across the state in a move aimed at strengthening district policing and improving administrative coordination within the police department.

The reshuffle includes changes in the Superintendents of Police (SPs) in 10 districts, along with fresh assignments in important units such as the CID-Crime Branch, Vigilance Department, Special Task Force (STF) and Special Branch.

Officials said the exercise was undertaken to streamline policing, improve law-and-order management and strengthen operational efficiency across key districts and specialised wings of the Odisha Police.

Smit Parmar Appointed Nayagarh SP

Among the major changes, IPS officer Smit Parmar, who was serving as Superintendent of Police in the CID-Crime Branch, has been appointed the new SP of Nayagarh district.

The current Nayagarh SP, S. Susree, has been transferred to the Vigilance Department and posted as SP.

In another key posting, Prahlad S. Meena, who was serving as SP of Bargarh district, has now been transferred as SP of Gajapati district.

Changes in Ganjam, Khurda and Crime Branch

The Odisha government also introduced significant changes in police leadership across southern Odisha districts.

IPS officer Suvendu Kumar Patra, who was serving as SP of Ganjam district, has been transferred and appointed SP of Khurda district.

Meanwhile, Vivekanand Sharma, the outgoing SP of Khurda, has been posted as SP in the CID-Crime Branch at Cuttack.

In another important transfer, Harisha B. C., who was serving as SP of Kandhamal district, has been appointed the new SP of Ganjam.

Additionally, Kashyap Parth Jagdish, who was serving as Additional SP of Bhadrak, has been elevated and posted as SP of Nabarangpur district.

STF, Special Branch and Rayagada Get New Officers

The reshuffle also brought major changes in the Special Task Force and Special Branch.

IPS officer Swathy S. Kumar, who was serving as SP of Rayagada district, has been transferred as SP of the Special Task Force (STF) in Bhubaneswar.

Meanwhile, STF SP Rabindra Nath Satapathy has been posted as the new SP of Bargarh district.

In another significant transfer, Rahul Goel, who was serving as SP of Boudh district, has been shifted to the Special Branch as SP.

At the same time, Kuldeep Singh Meena, who was serving as ADC to the Governor, has been appointed as the new SP of Boudh district.

Further, IPS officer Raj Prasad, who was posted in the Special Branch, has now been appointed SP of Rayagada district.

Administrative Exercise to Strengthen Policing

Officials said the latest IPS reshuffle forms part of the Odisha government’s continuing efforts to strengthen district policing, improve operational coordination and enhance the efficiency of specialised investigative and intelligence units.

The changes are also expected to improve law-and-order management, crime monitoring and coordination between district police administrations and specialised branches dealing with organised crime, vigilance and intelligence gathering.
