The Odisha government has implemented a minor reshuffle in its IAS cadre, facilitating key changes across departments while enabling a senior officer’s deputation to the Centre.
Vir Vikram Yadav, a 1996-batch IAS officer who was serving as Principal Secretary of the Works Department, has been relieved to take up his new role as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India.
Replacing him, Sanjay Kumar Singh, a 1997-batch officer and current Principal Secretary of the Rural Development Department, will now take over as Principal Secretary to the Works Department. In addition, Singh has been given dual responsibilities as Principal Secretary to the Information and Public Relations Department and the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, according to a notification issued by the General Administration Department.
Meanwhile, Yamini Sarangi, a 2008-batch IAS officer, will succeed Singh as the new Principal Secretary to the Rural Development Department. She will continue in her ongoing roles as Commissioner of Commercial Taxes and GST, along with the additional charge of Special Secretary to the Finance Department.
These changes are aimed at maintaining smooth governance and bolstering administrative effectiveness as the state government pursues its development goals.
