Senior IAS Gyanesh Kumar replaces senior IAS Rajeev Kumar as Chief Election Commissioner of India.
A day prior to the completion of the tenure of Rajiv Kumar (Retired IAS: 1984: JH), Mrs Draupadi Murmu, President of India, has appointed Gyanesh Kumar (Retd IAS: 1988: KL) as next Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India. The appointment in this regard was based on the recommendation of a high-powered committee.
Rajiv Kumar will complete his term on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 which required IAS Gyanesh Kumar’s appointment to succeed Rajiv Kumar as 26th Chief Election Commissioner of India w.e.f. 19.02.2025.
