Haryana: Gurugram DC Bans Drones, Kites, Firecrackers Amid Heightened Security Alert

In response to rising national security concerns following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, the Gurugram district administration has announced a strict prohibition on the use of certain aerial and celebratory items to safeguard public safety.

Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar, a 2013-batch IAS officer, issued the directive under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, enforcing the ban from May 9 to July 7, 2025 across the entire district.

Items Prohibited Under the Order:

Drones

Microlight Aircraft

Gliders & Power Gliders

Hot Air Balloons

Kite Flying

Chinese Microlights

Fireworks & Firecrackers (regardless of occasion)

The administration clarified that violations will be penalized under Section 223 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The objective of the ban is to avert potential threats, maintain law and order, and prevent panic in the region.

“This measure is essential to preserve peace and protect citizens,” said DC Ajay Kumar. “We urge all residents to remain alert and extend full cooperation.”

The public has been advised to follow official communications and avoid actions that could incite confusion or unrest during this sensitive period.
