Senior IPS officer Rajesh Khurana, a 1994-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, has been posted to the Delhi segment of the joint cadre by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Mr. Khurana recently completed his central deputation with the CRPF’s CoBRA unit, where he played a pivotal role in anti-Naxalite operations across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand. He had been awaiting a posting order since March 27, 2025.
With extensive prior experience in the Delhi Police — including as Special Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) and Special CP (Intelligence) — Mr. Khurana is expected to be assigned a key position within the force. Known for his expertise in handling complex law and order situations, he brings both field experience and administrative acumen to the role.
He is set to serve until his retirement in September 2029.
This development comes at a critical juncture, as Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, a 1988-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre, is scheduled to retire on July 31, 2025. Mr. Khurana’s posting may signal an impending reshuffle in the senior leadership of the Delhi Police.
